Our guests can enjoy free Glensheen Visits tomorrow!
Guests of The Firelight Inn can enjoy free passes to the historic Glensheen Mansion tomorrow May 22, 2009. Make your reservation at The Firelight Inn today!
The historic Congdon estate was home to Chester and Clara Congdon. Chester A. Congdon worked as an attorney, a mining developer and a state legislator. He was raised in upstate New York and was instrumental in the development of iron ore mining in northeastern Minnesota. Much of what Duluth, Minnesota is today can be tracked to the business dealings of Mr. Congdon.
Glensheen closely resembles the way it looked nearly a century ago. Most of the unique fixtures and decor are original to the early 1900s.
Glensheen opened as a museum in 1979 and 30 years later free tours are offered on Friday, May 22, 2009 as a way of celebrating the enchantment of touring the mansion.
Tours are on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the last tour is at 4 p.m. Make your reservations at The Firelight Inn on Oregon Creek Bed and Breakfast in Duluth, MN and enjoy a complimentary tour on Friday.

There will be no problems with long lines this year as it will be the only Tall Ship in the harbor. Make your reservations to stay at The Firelight Inn over July 4th, and see and tour the Tall Ship!
Duluth’s Firelight Inn B&B Gets a New Roof
Come and stay under our new roof!
A bad hail storm back in August 2008 damaged an already old roof so a new brick red roof has been put on The Firelight Inn on Oregon Creek Bed and Breakfast in Duluth, Minnesota.
While the roofers were busy pounding and nailing, Jim and I took a trip to Minneapolis to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. After having dinner with our sons Matt and Nate, we enjoyed an outing to a garden store and picked out new perennials and annual flowers for the gardens at The Firelight Inn. Now we are praying for some warm and dry weather so we can get them in the ground.
There’s a lot going on in Duluth this spring and Lake Superior won’t disappoint! Make your plans to getaway soon and enjoy Duluth before the busy season! Quiet season rates are valid through June 17. We hope to see you on your next trip to Duluth!
