Fall Colors at The Firelight Inn

The Duluth MN fall colors were covered with a light dusting of snow this morning at The Firelight Inn. The little maple trees across the street on the boulevard have looked all week like they are “on fire.” The golden leaves that are lying on the rocks down in Oregon Creek is a sure sign that Fall is alive and well in Duluth, Minnesota. As more leaves begin to fall in the creek, we will soon have sight of our neighbors, reminding us we do live in this beautiful historic city.

Our guests Cort and Dana drove to Lutsen on Friday and reported that from their gondola ride the fall color was breathtaking! Their pictures on their fancy cell phone were really beautiful! Other guests reported that the color on Highway 2 to Ely was beautiful though spotty.

The colors are in peak colors and there is still time to take that fall getaway to The Firelight Inn on Oregon Creek in Duluth, Minnesota. We have suites available midweek at reduced rates from the weekend rates.

Each suite is prepared with love and detailed with a featherbed, gas fireplace, television, VCR, DVD player, CD player, audio system, dining table and chairs, comfortable lounging furniture, IPod docking station, magazines and books, heated towel warmers, oversized bathrobes, magnifying mirrors, iron and ironing board, luggage rack, journals, clock radio, extra blanket for snuggling, towels, towels and more towels, glycerin soap, shampoo, Silk Petal Soaps, Mineral Spa Bubble Bath, ice bucket, wine glasses, bottled water, drinking glasses, chocolates, chewing gum and a hand-made welcome note.

Unlike a typical bed and breakfast where breakfast is served in a dining room at a certain time, our specialty is delivering a full, hearty breakfast to each suite each morning. This morning’s breakfast was Hash Brown Bake, Fresh Fruit with Yogurt, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins, Apple Walnut Breakfast Cake, Orange Juice, Alakef Brazil Coffee, cream and sugar. I can’t remember hearing so many great comments from my guests on how much they enjoyed it. No need to get up and get dressed and visit with strangers at the dining room–enjoy your hot breakfast in the privacy of your suite in your pajamas!

Our Woodland Suite was busy all day with guests enjoying relaxation massage therapy. Maybe you want to be pampered with a massage during your stay. Just a walk down the hall and then return to your suite for a nap or a jacuzzi bubble bath!

The “quiet season” at The Firelight Inn begins October 19th and rates are reduced through the winter months. Make your plans now to getaway and relax. You’ll be glad you did and, maybe like others today, you’ll make your return reservations before leaving!

We hope to see you on your next trip to Duluth! We look forward to welcoming you to George G. Barnum’s historic home which will be 100 years old in 2010. Watch for more information on 100th birthday specials throughout the year! Let the warmth of the Firelight surround you!
