"July 25th - July 27th Jim and Joy ~ Once again, we had a wonderful time here! We can't say enough how much we love this place. It is fabulous. So relaxing and peaceful. We loved the Isle Royale Suite! And now we can say we have stayed in every room. The breakfasts were so delicious, you are fabulous cooks and hosts. Our favorite part of this stay was our quiet picnic, sitting on the rocks along the north shore. The picnic lunch you packed us was great and it tasted very yummy (especially the potato salad). It was the perfect romantic picnic. We always look forward to coming here. We can't say enough wonderuf things about this place. "6.13-6.16.10 My husband surprised me with a trip to Duluth to celebrate our one year anniversary! We were married 6.13.09 in northeast Minneapolis. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast and we definitely enjoyed our time here! The Northwoods suite was quaint and cozy. It's obvious that the owners have put their heart into providing an excellent experience for their guests. The house is absolutely beautiful, although we spent most of our time in our suite. Our goal was to relax and enjoy our time away together. Mission accomplished! J&C "

"2/28/10 Upon driving up to the magnificent old house you will notice Jim waiting for you to offer a kind word and help you carry your luggage. Jim then gave us a tour of the house and brought up some interesting factoids about Duluth, as well as some historical testimony from others that I found interesting. I will come back with my wife, we were relaxed with all the little pleasantries and amenities Jim and Joy have to offer here at the Firelight. I would recommend that on the first night one should hop in the hot tub and sit in it for about an hour with their spouse and de-frag. It will set up the rest of your stay. Jim and Joy are sweet, non-pushy hosts, and are genuinely interested in conversation. I will be recommending this to everyone who wants some getaway time. Thanks Jim and Joy J&C P.S. 9/21 & 22/09 Dear Jim & Joy, You are both such hard working and wonderfully gracious people who go about your day making others happy and comfortable in your home. Thank you for allowing us to share this home for a few more days. It is a beautiful, relaxing and impeccable retreat for so many tired people. You work wonders restoring others and make it look so effortless. The environment inside and out is gorgeous, the food is scrumptous--but most of all, your company is so kind and welcoming. 9/5/09 Jim and Joy--Once again we had an amazing, relaxing, romantic and memorable stay our second time around in this beautiful room! (Barnum Suite) Celebrating our 10th anniversary here was just as amazing as it was celebrating our first nine years ago!! The breakfast and hospitality was what made our stay so enjoyable. The two of you sure do know how to make your guests feel special! July 7, 2009 Dear Jim and Joy, First, we will have to give a huge thank you to our daughter-in-law in London for finding your amazing, beautiful B&B on the Internet. Deana truly found a gem!
Then, we will once again thank our four sons and our daughters-in-law for giving us such a wonderful, thoughtful Christmas gift to enjoy when we chose to have a relaxing getaway.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to you, Jim and Joy, for your beautiful, warm and gracious home and for opening it as a B&B for all to enjoy. It is by far, the most gracious and beautiful B&B that we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. It is very obvious how much you enjoy your home and your gift of being hospitable, by all that you give and share with your guests each day. We felt so at home, thanks to your graciousness, it felt as though we were visiting friends at their home, not by two wonderful people operating a business. We enjoyed visiting with you, having a tour of your beautiful home, hearing of the history of your gracious home, relaxing on your beautiful front porch, hearing the creek outside our bedroom windows, sleeping wonderfully in our feather bed, reading your daily newsletter and last, but again, not least--enjoying your wonderful, amazing breakfast that you delivered to our room each morning. The two of you are very warm, giving people and it certainly shows in all that you have put into your home and all of the rooms for your guests to enjoy and to make sure that they have a relaxing experience at your B&B.

June 22, 2009 Outstanding hospitality by Joy and Jim in making us feel like family in these lovely surroundings. Some B&B's feel like inns--this one feels like a home. Outstanding attention to cleanliness and detail -- pink ribbons around the spare t.p. WOW! We had the wild rice soup and bread when we arrived -- very glad we did! Breakfast on the porch was fabulous -- this home has it all -- Could not have found a better place to celebrate our 40th anniversary !! J&R, Rochester, MN
