A Day of Charter Fishing on Lake Superior for Innkeeper Jim

I received a call from a fishing buddy of mine early this Spring asking if I could plan a fishing charter on Lake Superior this summer.  Miles was born in Duluth and he and his wife Sandy started staying at The Firelight Inn on Oregon Creek Bed and Breakfast many years ago for their anniversary each year.

KDK Fishing Charter on Lake Superior — Thomas, Jeff, Innkeeper Jim and Miles

I called Dave Koneczny who owns KDK Charters in the Twin Ports.  We needed a couple more guys for the charter, so Miles brought his son Thomas and his son-in-law Jeff.  It was a beautiful morning on Tuesday, but a storm was brewing from the South and we were just hoping it would hold off and the fish would cooperate.  Captain Dave has had his charter fishing business for 25 years and he grew up fishing out on the big lake.  His first mate Al did a great job driving the boat and the group shared many laughs together over the six hours we were out on Lake Superior. The fishing was pretty good for a morning when the lake was somewhat stirred up as the weather this Summer has been more unstable than normal.  We ended up bring home five really nice Lake Trout with one that weighed in close to seven pounds. Oh yes, the storm did hold off until nightfall.

If you have always thought about going out on a Duluth charter fishing expedition, give Captain Dave at KDK Charters a call.  He supplies all of the gear and everything you and your group will need for a great time. He even cleans your catch and packages your fish with ice after you get back to the dock.  An extra special treat is the small gift he hands each person as you are leaving.   Plan your stay at our Duluth bed and breakfast and reserve your charter fishing trip during your stay!
